Computing

At Bloemfontein Primary School we encourage our children to become curious and inquisitive individuals, helping them to explore the technology around them. We equip children with the skills needed for success in a rapidly changing world, where now both work and leisure activities are increasingly transformed by technology. By the time they leave Bloemfontein, children will have gained key knowledge and skills in the three main areas of the computing curriculum: computer science (programming and understanding how digital systems work), information technology (using computer systems to send, store, retrieve and manipulate data) and digital literacy (evaluating digital content and using technology in a respectful and safe manner). We have made a commitment to ensure our pupils are confident, competent users of technology. Computer safety is an integral part of the curriculum at Bloemfontein Primary School and children are taught the importance of using technology respectfully and safely. We want our pupils to have a breadth of experience to develop their understanding of themselves, both as individuals within their community and as members of the wider global community as responsible digital citizens.
